Appointments

In order to best serve our clients and furry friends, we operate primarily by appointment. Our schedule allows appointments between 8 am and 11:40 am and from 2 pm and 4:40 pm. We can typically get you an appointment within a week when calling to schedule. If you are new to our hospital, please arrive 10-15 minutes prior to your scheduled appointment time to allow for registration. Our office is no longer open on Saturdays until further notice.  We strive to keep our appointment times to approximately 30 minutes, but unforeseen cases do arise and can delay our schedule. We do accept walk-ins and emergencies during regular appointment times but there may be an additional fee depending on our scheduling, therefore we always recommend that you call in advance to avoid these fees. Unless you have an emergency, our regularly scheduled appointments are given priority so there is often an extended wait time.

Drop-Off Appointments

As an added convenience we offer drop-off appointments Monday through Friday. You can leave your furry family members with us so that you are free to carry on with your day. We will provide the requested care while they are with us and you can pick them back up at your convenience. Please be aware that you will need to reserve at least 10 minutes at the drop-off time so that our technicians can get the important information about your pet before you leave. Be sure to leave us a phone number that you can be reached at throughout the day just in case there are additional questions or concerns that may arise while your pet is with us.

Prescription Requests

You can request regular prescription refills at any time during our regular business hours. All prescriptions must be approved by one of our veterinarians, therefore we ask that you allow at least 24 hours after your request to pick up your medications. We can notify you when your prescriptions are ready if requested at the time of ordering. Some medications need to be specially ordered by an out-of-state pharmacy and will take longer to receive and prepare for you. Compounded medications must be ordered through our online pharmacy. If you are unsure about the availability of your medication feel free to ask one of our experienced technicians for more information. You do not need to call in advance to pick up Heartworm Prevention or Flea/Tick Prevention, however, all dogs must have a current heartworm test on file within the last year.

Surgery

Dogwood Animal Hospital schedules surgical/sedated procedures Monday through Friday. We request that all surgical patients arrive at the hospital between 7:45 am and 8:30 am. When you drop off please reserve at least 10 minutes to allow for proper check-in. All surgical patients should be held off food starting at 10:00 pm the night prior to the surgery. We encourage patients to drink water until they arrive at our hospital. Once surgeries are completed one of our caring surgical technicians will call you with an update and give you an appointment time for your furry family member’s discharge.

Boarding

In addition to medical care, we have a fully staffed boarding facility that can be your pet's "home away from home" when you cannot bring your pet with you when you travel. We have a quiet and peaceful kitty area where your feline friends can board while they look out the large window and enjoy the view. Make sure to ask for a tour when you are here for your next visit! Boarding is available at Dogwood Animal Hospital all year round. We request that you reserve a space for your pets at least 24 hours in advance. During any major holidays, it is best to schedule as soon as possible as space is limited especially for your larger furry friends. We do accept patients that do not normally come to us for veterinary care. If your pets are not normally seen with us, please bring their medical records with you. When you come in to drop off please allow at least 15 minutes to ensure proper check-in. If your pet normally eats a prescription diet or has a sensitive stomach please bring their normal diet with you, otherwise, we will feed our kennel diet (Hills Sensitive Stomach/Skin) at no additional charge. You are welcome to bring treats as well, but we discourage toys or chew bones that may pose a choking or foreign body hazard. You can also bring small blankets or beds. We request that you do not bring large beds that cannot be placed in a standard washing machine. Any additional questions can be directed to our kennel supervisor or front desk staff.
